Film and Decor

Have you ever wanted your home to look like a movie set (without all the cameras and crew members, of course)? Us too. Sometimes, we’re so enamored by a film’s furnishings and fixtures that we forget the plot line.

In light of award season and the upcoming crème de la crème of celebrity soirees—the Academy Awards® on Feb 24—we’ve reconstructed different décor from nominated movies so you can create your own star worthy space.

Whether you prefer an antique edge (“Anna Karenina”), plaid prints (“Brave”) or Parisian flair (“Les Misérables”), you can live like a character from your favorite films.

The gossip of aristocratic Imperial Russia was just as gilded as the décor. In the bold film adaption of Tolstoy’s epic love story, socialite Anna Karenina (brilliantly portrayed by Keira Knightly) gallivants around lavish estates filled with gold-plated mirrors and extravagant chandeliers. Nominated for best production design, it’s no wonder we’re so jealous of Anna’s surroundings.

Set in a mythical medieval Scottish kingdom, the Disney-Pixar film stars its first female lead… and plenty of plaid. While feisty Merida may not fully appreciate tradition (she was being forced to marry, after all), we immediately took a liking to the heritage-inspired designs of the film, from tartans and fur rugs to the stone castle walls and grand dinning room table.

One of the most anticipated films of 2012 (based on the musical by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, which is based upon Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel), Les Misérables did not disappoint. With an ensemble cast—featuring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne and more—and 19th-century France as backdrop, the musical is utterly majestic.
