New York Fashion Week is winding down, and Montreal Fashion Week came to a successful close after a whirlwind week of runway shows, presentations and parties.
In between all the fashion madness, Target announced the winner of the Target Emerging Designer Award. The award, first unveiled at Montreal Fashion Week in September, offers up-and-coming designers the opportunity to win a $25,000 grant, a full page profile in ELLE Québec, and to design an exclusive collection that will be sold at Target stores across Québec in 2014.
Montreal-based designer Mélissa Nepton snatched up the award out of a group of five talented finalists and after intense review by a panel of judges.
“We’re proud to announce Mélissa Nepton as the winner of the Target Emerging Designer Award, which allows up-and-coming fashion designers the opportunity to kick-start their career in fashion,” said John Morioka, senior vice-president, Merchandising, Target Canada. “Target is known for its innovative designer partnerships and we look forward to showcasing Melissa’s designs throughout Quebec.”
“I feel so fortunate to receive this award and I look forward to seeing my passion and dream become a reality when my collection hits stores next year,” said Mélissa. “Target has given me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase my work.”
