Love is in the air, and it’s not just because today is Valentine’s Day. Target is announcing that entrepreneur extraordinaire Brit Morin of Brit + Co and Weduary is officially joining the Wedding Registry Team at Target.
The west coast techy and DIY maven will help guide couples to become registry pros, sharing tips and tricks along the way. Move over, bridesmaids—there’s a new BFF in the bridal party.
You don’t need an adjacent place card to get to know her; get acquainted with Brit in our love-themed quick fire Q&A.
What are your top three registry tips?
What was the best item you registered for?
My registry was all tied to experiences, so we got things like yoga equipment coupled with a series of classes. We also got speakers for the living room along with concert tickets. All of the gifts were so great because our friends and family bundled them into these experiential categories.
Anything you wished you would have registered for?
I don’t feel like we missed anything! I love that our friends tailored their gifts to the type of couple we are—things that were really fun and added to the things we already enjoy doing together.
What’s your proposal story?
My now-husband Dave and I were in the Maldives. The first night we were there he had secretly talked to the concierge to come up with a pretty good scheme. I had the opportunity to “choose” two different experiences, so I picked flying a seaplane, which he’d knew I’d pick. Once we got up in the air, the pilot asked if I wanted to try flying. Obviously, I jumped up in the pilot seat and started flying. Suddenly Dave pointed out the window to a little beach below us. I look down to see “B, will you marry me?” written in coconuts in the sand.
Besides that epic proposal, what was the most romantic date you’ve ever had?
I remember one date when we just spent hours in the woods hiking. He put a lot of effort into creating our lunch—he made my favorite sandwich and even DIYed his own trail mix. We both work in tech so it was romantic to totally unplug and be disconnected from everything but each other.
What’s your favorite love song?
We both love Kenney Chesney. I walked down the aisle to one of our favorite songs, “Me and You,” at our wedding.
What is the silliest thing that happened at your wedding?
I was concerned about our guests having a good time, and really just wanted people to dance. I had read somewhere that if people wear sunglasses they feel like no one can see them, so I put these crazy LED sunglasses at every seat with a note that said “Dance like nobody is watching.” Everyone danced all night!
What are you doing for Valentine’s Day this year?
We’re going to the George Strait concert in L.A.
If you could create your own Sweetheart heart candy, what would it say?
I’d write “Text Me.” I’d also want to write my phone number on the other side and use it as a business card!
Finish this poem: Roses are red, violets are blue…
Live what you love and love what you do.
